Left-wing rocker Neil Young says he will “soon” remove his music from Amazon and is calling for a boycott because, he says, the online retail giant is supporting Donald Trump’s administration.

The aging and furious anti-Trump rocker from the 1960s has told fans to boycott Whole Foods, Facebook and Amazon and to tell them he is pulling his products from Amazon.

“FORGET AMAZON AND WHOLE FOODS. FORGET FACEBOOK,” Young’s salivating message on his website reads. “BUY LOCAL. BUY DIRECT. BEZOS SUPPORTS THIS GOVERNMENT. IT DOESN’T SUPPORT YOU OR ME.”

“Go to your local store,” his message continues. “Don’t go back to the big corporations that sold out America.”

“We all have to give up something to save America from the era of corporate control that we’re entering. They need you to buy from them. Don’t,” he continued.

He went on to make some strange claims, saying, “They shut down our government, your income, your safety, your family’s health security.”

He was presumably referring to the current government shutdown caused by Democrats, but he didn’t explain why he thought Amazon was to blame for it.

“Bring America back together,” he continued without hesitation. “Stop buying from big corporations, support local businesses. Do the right thing. Show who you are,” he said.

It’s unclear how Young plans to boycott the retailer, as thousands of small independent sellers use the platform to sell physical copies of his records and CDs. At the time of writing, his artist page is still active on Amazon Music’s streaming service.

Young has participated in boycotts before, but has usually given in. In 2022, he asked Spotify to remove some of his music after he became angry that podcaster Joe Rogan questioned the safety of coronavirus vaccines.

However, a few months later, Young backed down and his music was reinstated on the service.
